David and I went to Fargo, ND last weekend for his buddy Will’s wedding. We had so much fun!! I love all of his friends, and it was a BEAUTIFUL wedding! The dj was fun, the booze was free, and the food was good. I got there friday night no problem, we had dinner, and then hung out in the pirate themed pool at the hotel with David’s friends. Saturday we went to the wedding at the local church, and then went to the rehearsal at the hotel. Since david had to sit with the bridal party, me and Kristen (ryan’s gf..who was also in the bridal party) sat with some other people from VA our age. It was kinda cool because most of them knew David in High School and/or were good friends of his. And I had a BLAST with them! We drank, ate, and danced like fools. There was some Karaoke too. All around AMAZING night. What more could a girl ask for? Hot boyfriend to dance with, a great dress and hot pink shoes, great people, and free booze. Here are some pictures to enjoy:

I am home from my weekend vacation in Vegas with my bff, Eileen! I took SO many pictures, so make sure to check them out. Well, I flew out thursday after school. My first flight got delayed from 6 to 8 pm, causing me to miss my connecting flight in Atlanta. So, they booked me on the 1030 pm flight from ATL to LV. The flight over was ok, I was stuck in the middle seat (aka the bitch seat), but it wasn’t too bad. I get out of the gate, go get a smoothie, and go sit down at what I think my gate is. I sit for a minute, and realize everyone is talking about Tampa. Turns out my gate got chanced from concourse D to the END of concourse C. I barley make the tram, almost falling on a little girl, and I finally get there only to see my 1030 pm flight has been delayed until 1240 am! SO I didn’t get into Vegas until almost 3 am VEGAS TIME. Poor Eileen waited for me at the airport for almost 4 hours.

We finally get to our hotel- Harrah’s on the Strip- and we pass out. We get up leisurely, we go get lunch, and then we walk around. We take a shuttle to the Rio hotel, and we sign up for tickets to see Penn & Teller. We walk around Rio, we shop, and we take the shuttle over to the Las Vegas Paris hotel. Ok, no surprise, but I LOVED THIS HOTEL! lol. It is so cute! It has a huge Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, and inside….it was like you were walking the Parisian Streets. Tinny shops, a painted sky on the ceiling, and lots of french stuff everywhere! I found the cutest Tee shirt that doesn’t look like a  tourist tee shirt, and so many other things! Then we went back to our hotel, changed, and took the shuttle over the Rio again. We ate dinner and then we went and saw the Penn & Teller show. It was a beautiful theater, and it was very cool to see such legends live! The show was amazing! It was very simple and subtle. Nothing to big or flashy (I know, in Vegas right?) but it was perfect. I liked the show because they would explain some of the tricks. Also, Penn talked so fast that you had to keep up with him! It was so cute that Teller never spoke. He still was very expressive.

After the show, both Penn & Teller were out in the hall way taking pictures and giving autographs. So, I actually got to meet Penn, get a picture, and get an autograph! Its not the best picture (it was taken with  my phone), but it was very cool. He kept calling me Boss. It was cute. I told him the show was awesome, and he said “Great Boss!” lol. Then we ended up going back to the hotel. I was so exhausted. Stupid jet lag…

The next morning we got up, got breakfast, and checked out almost ALL of the casinos on the strip. We saw the MGM, New York, New York, the Bellagio, Ceaser’s Palace, etc. We walked through the Forum Shops-where they have all the designer shops there and where we also saw Pete Rose. Then we got lunch at Planet Hollywood. We ended up having Ceaser Salad’s in Ceaser’s Forum Shops!! lol. It was really good too. The ceaser salad we had the night before was amazing too! We went to vegas and found great dressing! hahaha. That night we went to see Rita Rudner (the comidienne). We got to meet her and got a picture with her too! She was really funny.

My favorite line was “I’ve told my husband that he could replace me with another wife, but she is going to do all the same things that annoy him.” lol. After the show, we went to dinner, the venetian hotel (which has a real canal and gondola rides in it!) and walked around. We went back to our hotel late and passed out. lol. Sunday we got up, checked out, and walked around. We went to Madame Toussaud’s Wax Museum. (See me here with French Actor, Gerad Depardieu!). Eileen and I had WAY too much fun posing with the statues. lol. So enjoy those pictures After that we went over to the Mile Shops and saw Popavich’s Comedy Pet Theatre. It was completely campy, but the dogs and cats were so freaking cute!!! After the show we went to the Paris hotel and gambled a bit (I sucked at it lol) and we went and had dinner at this AMAZING french restaurant called “Mon Ami Gabi”. The food was so amazingly good! After dinner, we went to the airport, and the rest is history. Nothing really exciting happened on the flight back except it wasn’t delayed or anything! lol. I came home and passed out for 6 hours-and Im about to go to bed again here soon.

So, for those of you who don’t know, I am obsessed (kinda) with penguins-well at least in my classroom.

I have this HUGE penguin that a student gave me for Christmas who I have named “Papa Pingouin”. Well, Papa has become quite popular lately. To the point that Penguin-nappers have taken notice. He has been taken like 6 or so times in the past week and a half. Sometimes a ransom note is left, sometimes a clue is left.

I have found him in the display case by the elevator, i have found him in the workroom! Well, he was taken again last friday. I started to recieve emails in A-1. Here are the pictures….

The first email said “Do you know where your penguin is?” then it was this picture- (right). Then i got more emails that said I should turn on the radio. Then the last one said “Sayt good bye to your little friend…”

Its incredible. I laughed so hard!!! I can’t wait to see where he goes next….

St Patty’s Day parade!! Mom, me, David, and Meg all went down to teh St Patty’s day parade down town. My brother and Dad were in the parade with the Irish Brigade. We had a lot of fun *(s you can tell by the pictures). Actually one of my students was in the parade!! It was very cool.

We then went for food and drinks at the local irish restaurant/pub with all of the Irish Brigade. It was…..crazy. But I did eat a very green meal-salad and a midori sour! lol. Greenest meal ive ever eaten! hahaha. But it was fun.

Ok as many of you know, I am in love with the singer Darren Hayes, formaly of Savage Garden. He is my all time favorite singer and I just love him. He’s my teenage obsession! Look at my photo!!

From the last post you know as well that I got selected to be a part of a 40 person audiance for his taping at XM Radio flight 26. So here’s what happened!

My mom and I took the metro into DC. (I love the metro!). We got there WAY early. We were, in fact, the first to arrive at like 2:30. We didn’t have to be there until 3:30 for the taping at 4. So we are waiting, and out comes Ron Ross-a Flight 26 DJ and our host for the afternoon, and he takes us and a few more people who have shown up and gives us a small tour of the building. Let me just say that the XM building is WAY COOL!!

So then we just sit in another loby for another hour or so, while more people pile in. Watching those who work at XM was fun too because it was an eclectic group of people. Every type of music you could imagine was embodied in these people. It was way cool. So, about 3:45 they bring Darren Hayes out to the studio-and of course he passes us and says “Hello!” in a VERY cute Aussie accent!! I was just so dumbfounded! So then I get up from my seat because my ass was falling asleep, and stand near the hallway to the studio. Everyone follows suite after that, and we’re all crammed in this corner.

Finaly the DJ comes out and says we can come down. These two girls run down the hall, and I out walk these two shorter girls (Thank you Dad for Long legs!!) and I end up gettinga front row seat 5 feet away from Darren!!! Then he comes in, and he is just so freaking cute. He sits down, makes some cute comments about his tea, and gets settled. I was just in awe. I have been musically in love with this man for 10 years. His voice just always seems to calm my soul no matter what’s going on.

So then they start the taping, and I did my best to stay still and quiet (which you all know how hard that is for me too do!!) He first starts out with the song “The Only One” from his latest cd “This Delicate Thing We have Made” Then they chatted a bit about the new cd, his inspriations, making his own record label (which is called Powdered Sugar), etc. He than sang “Unlovable” from his second solo cd “The Tension and the Spark“. When he sings in a studio, he said, he closes his eyes and just goes to a place deep inside. When he performs on stage he is obviously more lively and vibrant-but since we were in an XM studio, he closed his eyes when he sang.

Now the song “Unlovable” is the post-breakup letter he never sent his ex. Its a really powerful song, that obviously means a lot to him, because when he opened his eyes after the song they were teary. They next chated some more, and then he sang -in my opinion- the world’s best love song “Truly, Madly, Deeply” from his first cd with Savage Garden. My mom like hit me on the leg because that is one of her all time favorite songs! Finally he ended with what was his favorite song from his most recent CD (and what also turned out to be my favorite song from that CD too) “Casey”. It is about him and his sister just driving and listening to the radio to escape from life. They were poor as kids so they couldn’t afford a radio or the records, so all they had was that beat up yellow car. It was just amazing. Now during this song I was was lip syncing along and quietly rocking out. Darren actually opened his eyes, and looked at me. He saw me singing along and smiled at me. We had a moment. **Sigh** hehe.

After they wrapped up, someone in the audiance asked if we could take pictures and he said “Oh! Of Course!!” So my mom was like the first one up there with my camera! So he came up to me (because we were first in line) and went to shake my hand and I said “Can I hug you?” and he was like “Of course!” SO I GOT TO HUG DARREN HAYES!!!

So I said “I absolutly love you! You are my favorite artist of all time! I saw you 7 years ago in NC” (which was thelast time he toured the US)

He said “And you haven’t seen me perform since?”

I said “No!”

He said “I am so glad you could be here then!”

Then he looked at my mom and said “I’m sorry, I don’t think Ive met you”

My mom said “OH, I’m Kat’s mom!”

He said “You defintely don’t look old enough to be her mom!” So my mom loves him now. lol

Then I asked for a photo and his autograph (see pictures! OMG isn’t  he cute?!?). Then he went to shake our hand good bye and I said “I have to have another hug!” he laughed and hugged me. SO I HUGGED DARREN HAYES TWICE!!! Oh that made my life! He is just so sweet, real, and personable! I was like shaking afterwards. I thought I had more composure than that but I guess not!!! lol So now I have this amazing photo and his autograph and this incredable memory!! And he will be touring in the US this March and April. I am so gonna be there!!!!

Yesterday made this year worth it.

bc Im a camera whore. What can I say?

So, I decided-New Life, New Me, New ‘Do! So, I cut all my hair off last night! *gulp* I was sooooo nervous. I’ve had the same hair style for like 10 years (various lengths, bangs addition 4 years ago), but I need a change and a fresh start. I absolutely LOVE it! Here are some pics from last night-you know there are more to follow!

I have never had my hair this short!! Its incredible!! Check out the back! Also in good news, legal matters are moving a long nicely. Ill do a password protected post on that next. But, ive cut off the years of bad karma and starting anew. Im also going to see Maroon 5 in about 2 weeks (again) so I am super excited about that!! Spirit week is next week at school, so I should have some awesome pictures coming soon on that. well Ive gotta go blowdry my hair and run some errands with my mom! *bisous!*

Anyways, I am alive. Its been a super busy kind of week. I was sick last week, and then I was busy all weekend. Its amazing that I actually have some what of a social life! Im taking it easy this weekend becuase I am exhausted.

I went out and had dinner and drinks with a friend last night and then when I came home I was so exhausted, I went to take a nap at like 730 pm. Yea I slept until 8 am this morning. lol. I told you its been a long week.

Otherwise, not much else going on. I think my Halloween costume came in yesterday, so Ive gotta go pick that up. Im excited. Its a really sexy-but not trashy-pirate costume. So Im gonna be a “Dirty Pirate Hooker” hahahaha. (Side note-Ive found that only my generation and below understand this. My older friends, not so much. haha) Anyways, heres a pic of it from the website. Ill def take pics when Im in it.

Well I better go. I have a lot of shows to catch up with on tivo. I love taking it easy!

Well Darren Hayes’ (picture) newest cd came out yesterday. I ordered it from amazon, HOPING it would be here on the day of its release…nope. maybe by friday if I am lucky. geez. But this is his 3rd cd since his split from Savage Garden, whom I also adore. Im really excited to hear this 2 cd set. His stuff has gotten more funky and techno the further away he gets from his Savage Garden roots-but man can he sing a ballad! *swoons* hehe.

Anyways, the title of this entry is such because of 2 reasons. Reason one is because thats the name of his newest single (available on itunes!) and reason 2? Because despite having the worst summer of my life, I feel like I am on the verge of something wonderful. Maybe its getting back to my classroom and job and having that family, or maybe its just something in the air. But something good is definitely coming! Reminds me of that west side story song. “Could be/Who knows?/There’s something due any day/I will know right away/Soon as it shows” …………. Ok im done being a musical geek. Time for bed!
